Report from Doug on March 4th at 9:12 a.m. Japan Time:
We have had our best day of sailing so far since leaving San Diego. We have averaged 7 knots , nearly twice the average speed so far, and it seems these conditions will persist for at least another 24 hours. Impossible to say whether our 60 day expectation for arrival in Japan will be met, but it is finally nice to be making good speed in that direction.

We had to motor in a very weak wind for 10 hours, then got some wind back this morning and are enjoying sailing again.
I got some seawater in a bucket and did dishes in the cockpit as usual. Then, I realized, I lost the dish sponge when I disposed waste water. “Oh, no!” I threw away the dish sponge that even had a handle. I would have noticed it only if I could see. It happened because I did not check inside the bucket with my hands. What puts me down is that I have to face two very different side of me which is proud side of me challenging as a world first blind sailing across the Pacific and another side of me not being able to find the sponge which makes me look so small. But I got to control my emotions by doing ‘Gratitude Meditation’ and am feeling alright now.
