先の週末、夢の島から銚子マリーナに船を移動させました。回航メンバーにとって初めての銚子マリーナ入港でした。出発の朝は霧、そして今回の２２時間の回航を通して視界不良に曇り一時雨と言った天気でした。
今回、ニューペックスマートという電子海図を頼りに航行したわけですが、図はとても分かりやすく、機能としても利用者に使いやすいデザインです。日本語が外国語の僕でも簡単に使えました。海図としても機能だけでなく、AISの情報や天気、その他の重要な情報も載っています。僕の経験と他の方からも聞いた意見では、ニューペックスマートは日本国内において一番正確で非常に優れたアプリです。（スマホやタブレットで使います）東京湾内の航行と銚子入港はいずれも難しいと言われていますが、安全に行うことが出来ました。
太平洋横断の時の小名浜入港の際もニューペックスマートの情報を頼りにしました。到着日の朝の風と潮の流れが難しく、いわきさんマリーナ入港に向けた舵取りの前は、かなり陸地に近い海域での航行を強いられました。ニューペックスマートの情報なしには自信を持って陸に近いところに逃げることは出来ませんでした。これなしではきっと到着時間ももっと遅かったと思います。

Over the weekend we moved the boat from Yumenoshima to Choshi Marina. It was foggy in the morning with occasional rain and poor visibility throughout the trip. It was the first time for us to enter Choshi marina.
We relied exclusively on the NewPec application for navigation. The charts are very detailed and the user interface very well designed, so it was easy to use even for a non-native Japanese speaker. In addition to the charts, the application captures AIS information, weather and other important information. Based on my experience, and what I have been told by others, NewPec is the most accurate and detailed charting application for Japan that exists. It certainly allowed us to safely navigate Tokyo Bay and the entrance to Choshi Marina, both of which are known to be difficult to navigate.
We also relied exclusively on the NewPec for our approach to Onahama at the end of the voyage. Because of the winds and current on the morning we arrived, we were forced to go very close to land before tacking to make the approach to Onahama Sun Marina. Without the details and accuracy of the NewPec charts, we may have not had the confidence to go so close to land and our arrival into the marina may have been delayed.
