世界的な冒険家の故 植村直己さんを記念にした植村直己冒険賞の受賞者が発表され、チームDream Weaverの岩本光弘が２０１９年受賞者として選ばれました。
数々の挫折を乗り越え、２度目のチャレンジで無寄港太平洋横断を成し遂げた功績が認められという事です。
ヒロはコメントで『冒険家として尊敬する植村さんの功績を継承するこの名誉ある賞をいただけることに心から喜ぶと同時に身が引き締まる思いです。受賞をきっかけにもっともっと多くの人たちに勇気と希望を与えられるようにさらに頑張っていきます。』と答えました。
この賞の選考委員の西木さんは、本当はダグラス さんにも賞をあげたかったが、日本人の冒険家へ与えられる賞との位置付けがある為、岩本さん一人に賞が授与されることとなったと付け加えて下さいました。
授賞式は６月６日で、植村直己さんの故郷である兵庫県豊岡市で執り行われ、同市にある植村直己冒険館で特別展として写真や装備品などが展示されることになっています。
The late Naomi Uemura, was a world famous Japanese advetuerer. Today, Hiro received the Naomi Uemura adventure award for 2019. He was praised for his achievement after all of the difficulties he had faced in his life.
Hiro commented, “I have huge respect for Mr. Uemura for his achievements. I am so honored to receive this award. Mr. Uemura’s passion is passed on to future generations through this award. I would like to make this opportunity another start for me to send a message of courage and hope to many people。
A member of the selection committee, Mr. Nishiki expressed that they wanted to give this award to the pair, both Hiro and Doug, but as this is an award honoring Japanese adventurers, only Hiro could be officially awarded.
The award ceremony will be held on June 6th in Toyooka City, Hyogo prefecture where Mr. Uemura’s hometown. Some pictures and Hiro’s items will be displayed at Uemura Naomi Museum as a special temporary exhibition.
