How we decide our directions / 方角の決め方

We still continue to sail south to find the trade winds and blocked from going west by areas of very light winds.   We hope to get to some better winds in a couple of days.   Winds so far have been light and variable ( direction and speed) making sailing challenging.  

This is a picture of our chart plotter showing our track and position.  The X’s are points noted in various weather forecasts.  As you can see , a real turn west will not begin until latitude 23 , about the same as tip of Baja.  Our final latitude heading West will probably be around 18 North.  

とても弱い風のエリアに阻まれて西に向かうことが出来ず、引き続き貿易風の吹く南に向かって航行中です。あと２、３日中には少しましな風があるエリアへと到達できるのではないかと期待しています。今の所、微風で方向や強さ的にも変わりやすい風の中でチャレンジングな航行を強いられています。

下に航路と現在地を表示するチャートプロッターの写真を添付しました。Xが付いている箇所は天気予報に様々さな可能性を含む箇所です。本当に西に進んでいいエリアは北緯２３°（メキシコのバハ・カリフォルニア半島の南端の位置）位からしかありません。恐らく最終的には北緯１８°まで行ってから西に航路を取る事になりそうです。
