【バケツの取っ手が！！】

3月1日午後2時、日本時間3月2日午前7時、6日目。

北東の風。今、帆走で南に向かっています。微風にまだ悩まされていますが今夜には風があるところに到達する予定。今朝セールを揚げるのに、コックピットで作業していると、足元が滑るのに気づきました。二人で原因を考えたのですが、昨日、燃料を入れたとき、ポリタンクに少し残っていた燃料を少量こぼしてしまったのです。ペーパータオルで拭いたのですが、自分達の靴底をチェックするのを忘れていました。燃料があらゆるところに広がったようです。そこで、デッキとコックピットを1時間かけてすべてブラシで掃除しました。海水を汲むのにバケツを海に投げたところ、危うくバケツを落としそうになりました。運良くキャッチできましたが、そのバケツがないと海水が汲めなくなります。海水は重要な資源です。新たな取っ手をロープで作り何とかクリア。「まあ、いいか」と言ったミスは洋上では大きな問題となります。今後はさらに気を引き締めて気を付けていきたいと思います。

NE wind, Wave hight: 60cm, Weather: Clear

We are sailing down south by NE wind. We are still struggling from lack of decent wind. Hopefully, we will get to the area with better wind conditions by tonight. I noticed that the floor was slippery as I was working in the cockpit, trying to put the sails up. We had spilt a small amount of fuel when we filled up the tank yesterday. We had cleaned the floor with paper towels, but forgot to check the bottom of our shoes, which spread the fuel all over the boat as we walked around. We ended up brushing the floor of the deck and the cockpit for 1 hour. We almost lost our bucket while trying to get some seawater from the ocean, but luckily, we managed to catch it. If we had lost the bucket, we won’t have been able to get seawater again. Seawater is very very important to us as a resource. We attached a new handle made of rope for the bucket. Small mistakes can cause big problems for a boat in the middle of the ocean. We will try to be more careful in the future.
